| 2009 World Wide Mega CBX Rally |
|
UPDATE:- 13 MAY 2009 LAST LETTER BEFORE RALLY June 24-28TH CBXers, We are very close to World Wide Mega rally time. If you have not made your hotel reservations yet please do so. There are 8 rooms left at this hotel that are available for all 4 nights. The Hampton Inn next door (share the same parking lot as Comfort Suites) has rooms also and agreed to sell them at the same price $89.95 per night. Tell them you are with the CBX Motorcycle group / rally. As of today there have only been 2 people that have canceled. The rally site is still going to be at Bills house (TIMS). There will be driving directions in your rooms to his place as well as CBX RALLY signs posted with arrows to direct you there. It is only a 1 mile ride. There will also be many maps of the area for those who want to go out riding on their own. There will be short and long ride info with places to stop as well as gas places. Bill and I will be there on Tuesday and Wednesday to pick up people getting off the train / Marta station that need to be brought to the hotel. Anyone coming earlier than Tuesday, please call Bill to make arrangements with him. The hotel is where you will get your bike from all those guys that have lent you theirs. All info for people flying in and using the train / Marta system is posted on TIMS web page. Bill and I will have our phones on us so when you get on the Marta / train at the airport call Bill on +1-770-475-5550 or me on +1-352-522-0030. It is very important that you call us so that you are not waiting there forever for Bill or I to come. We are about 10- 15 minutes away. The rally fee will be as I said it would, $50.00 and one unwrapped TOY. Remember all proceeds from the rally will go to the TOYS FOR TOTS. Toys for Tots provide presents for children at Christmas for those who might otherwise go without a gift. If you can’t bring a toy with you because of room in your luggage or on your bike, there is a Wal-Mart within walking distance of the hotel. I will collect the rally fee and toy on Wednesday or first thing Thursday morning before we take our group ride to Barbers Museum. We will all leave from the hotel at 10.00am. For those who can’t make it at that time, no problem we will just see you there. You will have a map with directions to get there in your room. Thursday will be our only all in one group ride. On all of the rest of the days we will break it down into smaller groups because we can’t keep 100 plus bikes together in the mountains. Bill has a few of his friends that are going to help lead some of the small groups on Friday and Saturday. You do not have to stay as a group when riding, the only thing we ask is that you be back for dinner at 7:00 on Friday and Saturday nights. For those that might have a bit too much to drink at the rally there will be someone that will take you back to your room. Not that anyone is going to drink too much… LOL. I also want to thank the guys / gals from Iceland as they are going to supply us with live music on Friday and Saturday nights. The raffle for all of the CBX parts from vendors as well as other items from CBX clubs all around the world will be on Saturday night. Bill and I have decided that you must attend the rally to win anything. We have had many people wanting to pay for tickets to the rally that do not plan to come. They only want to be able to have a chance of winning the many great CBX parts / apparel and a 1979 CBX. We just didn’t feel that this was fair to those of you who are coming. I know a few people have said that they are coming, but might have to leave early Saturday. That is not a problem. As long as you have signed the form at the rally you are good to go. Bill and I have put MANY hours into planning this rally and trying to make this the best CBX rally ever put together. We hope we all have a great time and get to see some of our old friends as well as make a bunch of new ones. I think some of you are staying in the local campground. If so please get in touch with one of us on Tuesday or Wednesday so that we can get the info packet to you. ALSO THIS IS VERY IMPORTANT-- If you are getting your bike shipped by B & B trucking you need to call now, this is very critical for the pick up of your bikes or bike. Call the office # 800-874-5444 ask for Vahn. Get your oil changed and your bikes shined up and we will see you there! Bill and Louis UPDATE:- 13 JANUARY 2009 We are getting closer to the rally time. I know these past few months have not been going very well with our economy as well as in other countries, but not one person has canceled yet that I know of. I know lot of American CBXers have been putting off making reservations because of this. Well all I can say is that we are still going to have this rally and if you miss it, you will probably be missing the best CBX rally ever put together to date. If you have not made reservations yet I suggest you do so if you plan to come. This will help us figure out food, rides and if we need to make a deal with the other hotel next door. I don't want to do that at the last minute. Also at this time we are out of loaner bikes, so if you have not emailed me saying you have a bike to loan to one of our out of the country CBXers please do. I know a few of you are worried about lending your bike, but let me tell you this; when I rode someone elses bike at the overseas rallies I've gone to, I was very careful with their bike. I have had many people I've never met before visit me and borrow one of my bikes. They are always very careful and respectful of them. A few have even wanted to wash and wax the bike after a ride! CBX guys love their bikes and know how you feel about your bike. I also would make sure that you have insurance on your bikes, as this will help ease the worry. We want to make these guys feel at home at this rally. We've also have had some guys say they wanted to rent a bike because they want to stay in the USA and do a bit more riding after the rally. I have spoken with JJ at Eaglerider.com and they will pick you up at the airport, this alone will save you big $$ on taxi service and it will guarantee that you will have a bike to ride for the rally. Visit Eaglerider.com for more information or You can call 404-675-2990 EST ask for JJ Also I have another guy that rents BMWs his name is Mark Martin, www.motohobo.com or call him at 678-467-7337 30th Anniversary Hosted by Louis Mintrone from WWW.USEDCBXPARTS.COM AND Bill Brint from TIMS INTERNATIONAL
This will be one of the largest, if not THE largest Honda CBX rally ever put together. This rally is not associated with any clubs. This is a rally for all CBX owners from all over the world to come together for a great event and meet old friends and make new ones. We are expecting over 60+ people from overseas to attend this event, and we are hoping for over 150+ people from the USA and Canada. The location of the rally will be in Cumming, Georgia. We picked this site for 3 reasons, Bill has some of the best riding places in the area, he has offered to do it at his place and it is near Atlanta International airport. There will be no problem getting you guys from the airport to the rally site too. The rally site is about 20 minutes from one of the best places to ride motorcycles in the USA. Bill will show us some of his favorite back roads that he's found living in that area for most of his life. I personally have ridden there many times and it is great riding. We will ride in The nothern Georgia Mountains, North Carolina mountains and to name some places you might have heard of, the Dragons Tail, Cherohala Skyway, 129 scenic hwy, NC hwy 28, Bald Mountain, Blue Ridge Parkway and many more unknown roads. We arranged for our group to stay at the Comfort Suites of Cumming (phone [001 from the UK] 770-889-4141) When you make reservations tell them it will be for the MOTORCYCLE rally and they will give you the rate of $89.00 per room per night. There are 77 rooms at this hotel and if we need more there is another hotel next door. The hotel has a pool as well as many other amenities. They say that they serve a free, healhty breakfast. The rally site will be at Bills house. He has about 5 acres and has hosted many get togethers there. The hotel is about a mile from his place. There are plenty of restaurants within walking / riding distance from the hotel. On Friday and Saturday night we will have catered dinners. As far as we know now, these will be an all you can eat southern type BBQ and each night will be different food. We will have a large tent set up with chairs during the rally dates. We want to make this a riding rally and come back in the evenings to share our events at Bills place. We are also going to be raffleing off at least one CBX for this event and we will have many CBX parts to raffle off as well. All proceeds from the raffles and the rally will go to Toys for Tots. We are also working with other clubs around the world and trying to get them to donate CBX T- shirts from their clubs as well. We have not come up with a price yet for this rally, we think it will be around $50.00 and this will include the catered food. We are also asking any CBX owners who are coming to this rally and have extra bikes, to please bring what they can so that our far away CBXers can use their bikes. You can get in touch with me at usedcbxparts@hotmail.com. So far I have about 17 extra bikes that others have loaned our overseas friends for this event. We will need lots more. I will let you know ahead of time who needs your bike and you and him / her can email each other. Just another way of knowing a fellow CBXer. I also have set up a trucking company that will haul your bikes from the west coast to this rally and wait there until the rally is over and then bring your bikes back. He will do this for $650.00 round trip. I have used Larry from B and B (phone # 209-495-3729) over the years with never a single problem. He said he will do this if he gets a minimum of 25 bikes. He also said he will still do it for the $650.00 if there is only 1 bike, but he will not wait there at the rally site. He will just pick it up when he is going back. Larry also said that he can have about 4 pick up places in CA to get all the bikes. Larry has set aside the dates for this rally to do this for us. $650.00 is a very good price for round trip. I am working with two companies in the Atlanta area that rent bikes if you do not want to borrow someone elses. We are trying to get a shipping company to ship all the owners bikes that want to attend from the UK area as well. I will email the UK Riders club when I have all that info. I have set up something for our Iceland friends to get their bikes here as well. I think that most of them will borrow someone elses bike due to the cost. Please make reservations as soon as possible as this will help us hold the entire hotel and also help the caterer with a head count for food. We know for a fact at this time that guys from Norway, Iceland, Australia, Canada, and the UK are coming. For the guys in the USA, lets make this the best CBX rally ever and show our fellow CBXers from other countries how a rally in the USA works. I have personally been to a rally in the UK and Iceland and those guys know how to have a heck of a great time. Good riding and great hospitality, it's our turn to show them the same great time if not better! If you have any questions please email me at usedcbxparts@hotmail.com or call 352-522-0030 EST or Bill at TIMS email sales@timscbx.com or call 770-475-5550 EST.
